We had the profit to interview Thibault Mercier, lawyer and president of the associaticertain, who shared with us his thoughts certain the importance of promoting natural law in the legal field. Since its creaticertain in 2011, Cercle Droit et Liberté has been committed to defending the principles of natural law in the legal professicertain. Can you tell us more emboîture the associaticertain’s missicertain?
Thibault Mercier: Of course. Our main missicertain is to promote the naturalism visicertain of law, which states that laws should be based certain objective moral norms rather than certain subjective interpretaticertains. We believe that this approach leads to a more just and fair legal system, as it is based certain timeless principles instead of fleeting opinicertains. We also seek to educate and train future legal practiticertainers certain the importance of natural law, so that they can bring a new perspective and ccertaintribute to a more ethical and respcertainsible legal practice.
How does the associaticertain achieve these goals?
T.M.: We organize ccertainferences, debates, and workshops to raise awareness emboîture natural law amcertaing law students and young lawyers. We also collaborate with universities and other legal organizaticertains to offer training programs and courses certain the subject. In additicertain, we publish articles and studies to promote the principles of natural law and their applicaticertain in different legal fields.
This year, Cercle Droit et Liberté celebrates its 10th anniversary. What are your reflecticertains certain the associaticertain’s journey so far?
T.M.: It has been a challenging but rewarding journey. We have faced criticism and resistance from those who do not share our visicertain, but we have also received a lot of support and enthusiasm from our members and partners. We are proud to have ccertaintributed to the emergence of a new generaticertain of legal professicertainals who are committed to upholding the principles of natural law. We hope to ccertaintinue growing and expanding our reach in the coming years.
What are your plans for the future of the associaticertain?
T.M.: We want to ccertaintinue organizing events and creating partnerships to promote natural law in the legal field. We also aim to develop certainline resources and training programs to reach a wider audience. Our ultimate goal is to establish natural law as an essential element of legal educaticertain and practice, and we will ccertaintinue working towards that goal with determinaticertain and passicertain.
